Benedetto Bonfigli, Italian painter, was born and died in Perugia in circa 1420 - 1496. He was one of the primary figures in Umbria before the times of Perugino; he was bound with the Tuscanian painting of Benozzo Gozzi, Beato Angelico and Filippo Lippi, and especially of Domenico Veneziano, with who he had contacts in course of decoration works of Palazzo dei Priori in Perugia: Storie di San Ludovico e di Sant'Ercolano (1454). Bonfigli developed the original conception of space based on extreme lightness of colors. Numerous works of this artist are collected in Gall.
