This Church of Santa Catherine of Siena at Via Giulia (Chiesa di Santa Caterina da Siena a Via Giulia) grew on the site of the old "castrum senese", center of financial and commercial activity of the Sienese in Rome. Their arch-confraternity was founded in 1519 and the first oratory was erected right here and dedicated to the patron of Siena, St.Catherine. The complete reconstruction of the church took place in 1766-1775 by Paolo Posi. On Via Giulia the church of Santa Caterina da Siena will appear on the left.

Vast interior doesn't contain works of any particular importance, but should be noticed a burial monument to its architect P.Posi.

The whole space around the church was used for hospitality and aid to people coming from Siena to Rome. The back of the church facing Via di Monserato is in medieval form built in the 30's of this century, where the aspect of the casa di S.Caterina, located in Fontebrana in Siena, is reproduced.

The facade, reminds recalls Borromini’s shapes and is decorated by a double set of columns crowned by a triangular gable. The interior has a nave with two vaulted roof side chapels with G.B. Marchetti’s stucco decorations. There are also paintings of by eighteenth- century artists. In the crypt holds,there is the old cemetery of the Arciconfraternita dei Senesi. Walking and through a yard one can also reach, the oratory, which is preceded by the statue of Santa Caterina can be reached.
