(Trebisonda 1403-Ravenna 1472) Bizantine humanist and cardinal. He was a monk and arch-bishop of Nicea, in 1438 went to Ferrara and Florence for the council. He was participating in the attempt to unite the church of East and West. In 1439 became a cardinal and worked as a diplomat for Eugenius IV, Pius II and Paul II, especially occupied in organization of the Crusade against Turks....
