"Palazzo Cardinal Cesi, Rome" submitted by RomeTour Editorial Team and last updated on Thursday 28th April 2011
In 1520 cardinal Armellini built a new palace enlarging the old one of 15th century, which was bought by future cardinal Pier Donato Cesi and his brother Angelo in 1565. The Cesi's had it innovated by M.Longhi the Younger. On the right end of the facade there are rests of the sculptured lion head. It is one of examples of the rich collection of antiques realized by the cardinal with big expenses of money and lost in 17th century.
At the moment Palazzo Cesi belongs to Padri salvatori (religious congregation).
