It stands in front of the Church/ Chiesa delle Santissime(SS.) Stimmate di S.Francesco. It is a reconstruction of 16th century palace built for the Florentine family Strozzi by C.Maderno, and destroyed in course of laying out of Corso Vittorio Emmanuele. At present Palazzo Strozzi is occupied by "Foundation Marco Besso (Fondazione Marco Besso)", named after a banker, patron of studies of Rome and maecenas.
Fondazione Marco Besso is instituted by Marco Besso (1843-1920) in 1918, its aim is to conserve and increase its Library and to promote culture according to the guidelines of its studies. It promotes and organizes exhibitions, conventions, round tables and seminars on Rome, Dante and Etruscology.
