This Palazzo Tanlongo (Palazzo Iacobilli Tanlongo) is a big construction of impressive, but modest architecture. It is noted for hosting one of the most prominent patriots of Italian Risorgimento, Benedetto Cairoli, which is remembered in a tablet on the wall; and for being a property of a senator Bernardo Tanlongo, the main hero of a huge "scandal of the Roman Bank" in 1891. The bank was authorized to issue the official currency; but it issued paper money two times more than it was ordered through double emission of the bank-notes with the same numeration. Personalities of the first importance in Italian State were in some mode involved in these bold operations of the banker.
